Default Should I buy it?

Hi - I've got a buddy who has a '92 Mazda extended cab 4x4 pickup, 125000 miles of which half were being towed behind a motorhome, has a pickup cap, 5 speed manual transmission. It's pretty clean as it's a Washington State vehicle (no rust).

My son's a Toyota guy through and through, so I'm getting no help with advice from him.

My question is, how long do these have a rep of lasting? (ie, how many miles?)

My friend wants $2200.

Thanks, Rosie

Hmmmmmm. Frankly Rosie, I would be wary of any vehicle w/that many miles that's been used for towing or plowing.

Just based on what you've posted, I would stay away. There is a reason he/they are selling it, and it may not be the advertised reason, if you get my drift.

Hi there,

From your note you say that the vehicle was being towed, not USED for towing. If that is the case, the engine has not been used for as many road miles the vehicle has traveled.
At 125,00 mi, for $2,200.00 I don't see that it is such a bad deal. With diligent maintenance there should be no reason the truck could last you to 180 to 200k miles!
However, I would strongly suggest that you have the vehicle inspected by an independant garage before purchasing to ensure there are no hidden problems! This of course would be a cost to you. Consider it 'peace of mind' insurance!

Good luck with it!
