Hi all as a newbie to this forum I would like to say hello. I would also like some help and advice from members to an issue with my daughters new car. I purchased this Mazda 2 a few weeks ago and as usual it needed a few bit doing. As a DIY spanner chucker I did a lot of the mechanical work on the suspension and brakes but I've been stumped on the electrical side.
Her car is fitted with a Sanyo Radio / Sat Nav which is a touch screen. The mic and usb no longer work so no telecoms functions. Plus the Tom Tom maps are well out of date. So she asked me to upgrade to a Android / Car play unit she had seen on eBay link below
I emailed the seller who said the wiring harness was not compatible, even though they look the same to me. What I have noticed is the current radio harness looks like its been spliced into the original wiring loom and OEM plug. I think that's to facilitate the Mic and USB, and possibly the steering wheel controls.
Is there anyone on this forum who has retro fitted this type of unit?
I have added some pictures to try and explain what I mean below.
Current head unit with Tom Tom Original pin plug that the spliced harness was connected too. New cables from spliced harness which went straight into rear of existing unit Make and model Rear view of current unit Smaller power connector that plugged into rear of current unit.
I would be very grateful of some assistance as I don't want to make a purchase from eBay which is worthless.
