Default Basic question about audio on a mazda 3

I have a 2006 mazda 3 grand touring (love that car, it was my dad's), but the CD player jammed a number of years ago. I bought a replacement on ebay, it fits perfectly, but no sound, so I assume I have to reprogram it? The old unit worked fine as a radio, but I really want to listen to my CD's, and when I put the new unit in, silence (despite the it was playing, and I could move the tracks using my controls on the steering wheels, and switch to radio etc). I have no idea where my dad bought the vehicle, and I can't seem to find the code in the manual. I am kinda of stuck. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for any help you might be able to offer a newbie. Regards, Rob Evans

It may be a issue of Bose vs non Bose? or facelift vs pre-facelift.

The original is definitely Bose (the amp is under the seat) and the replacement is also a Bose as well (identical in all respects). In fact, I ordered a second one, also a Bose unit from another vendor (thinking perhaps the first was faulty) and the same issue (I can't fault the vendors). I put the original unit back in, and it works fine except the CDs are still jammed (I think the motor is burned out)... I suppose I can put in an aftermarket unit that will play CD's but I hate to take out the original, it never looks right to me.

If you're handy, try swapping over just the Newer CD player into your old stereo.
