2002 ECU immobolizer replacement
Can you just replace the ECU in a Mazda 2002 626 without replacing the immobilizer?
2002 626 automatic 2.5 ECU numbers are KL1L-18-881D, the immobolizer numbers are LC62-67-5G2B.
The vehicle was hardly running after starting it. Took it to a independent garage. He thought it was the coil, he replaced it.. Replaced the plugs which were worn out. That did not solve the problem. He determined it was a bad ECU. Only charged me for the plugs. Said I needed to take it to the Mazda dealer in Green Bay, Wi. because they would have the equipment needed and the know how, to reset a used one. Mechanic at Mazda was told to put a used ECU in, which he did. Mazda no longer stocks new ones. Says it will not start now. Never asked for my 2nd key.
Told I should secure a used ECU and a used immobolizer that matches my numbers on both units and to get them from the same junked car. Problem is no yard has the immobolizer, just the ECU, cars that old are crushed.
I feel I should not have to junk my car because of the ECU going bad. I don't have that kind of money. What can I have done to get back on the road?
