Question Some advice on replacement ECU...

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for some advice at the moment because I've been told by a dealer that I need to replace the ECU costing £1,600.

I've got a '53 Mazda 6 which I've had since April '08. Earlier this week I was out and had a severe drop in power and the ECU light started flashing.

I took it to a Mazda dealer in Slough (closest to me apart from Guildford Mazda) and have been told they can't find anything wrong with sensors, etc and suggest the only thing they can't readily change and test is the ECU.

Unfortunately, to test their theory it will cost me £1,600.

Now my question...does this sound reasonable with regards price and also logic?
