Default Transmission problem?

Hello everyone,

I have the following problem on my Mazda 6 of 2004. Recently I had a 250 km trip and on the way back the car stopped all of a sudden. I tried to push the accelerator, but it was no use and the car stopped. After cooling off for a while it started again, but after that it went for some distance and stopped again, then after a while started it again until I got to the garage.

I thought the reason would be anti freeze overheating, but it was ok. The computer diagnostic was ok, too.

Can it be because of transmission fluid? I should say that there is replacement fluid instead of Mazda.

Any help would be appreciated.

Low tranny fluid can cause a vehicle to stop, but it wouldn't make sense that it drove after cooling off. Tranny fluid expands as it warms and so it's more like to drive when warm.

What engine do you have? If it's the V6, did it seem extremely warm under the hood when this happened?

Thanks for the reply.

The engine is DOHC 16 valve. Regarding the overheating engine - Well, it was a little bit overheated. But taking into account the extreme hot weather and the distance travelled, I think it should be like that .
