Anybody know where I can find aftermarket spark plug wires for the 3.0L? Not even the local parts store have stock replacement sets without having to special order. Figured if I'm gonna special order might as well go for something better performing than stock if I'm gonna go through the hassle of replacing spark plugs.

 

Spark plug wires are either good enough or no good. Claims about significant performance enhancement tend to be exaggerated. Specs. on Mazda HT cable resistances are quite tight, so you'd need to meet those specs. in terms of ohms per plug run.
You're probably best off just to be patient and buy the OEM harness replacement.

 

There are no Spark Plug wires on the V6. It uses a COP ignition.

oldeng, I have no idea what you are speaking of. Do you know what a COP (Coil Over Plug) ignition is? Please do some research before attempting to help any more members with newer cars, This is the second time in less than a month you have given wrong information to a new member. Thanks.

Well I managed to change the spark plugs without screwing anything TOO bad. I did manage to somehow break the plastic elbow that connects a small vacuum hose to the top of the air intake hose. Anybody know the part number? Not too worried about that since I was able to superglue it back together and seems to be holding up fine for now. My concern is that it seems that I'm now getting WORSE gas mileage with the new plugs? I wasn't expecting any significant increase but the loss has me puzzled (its down to about 15mpg HWY, not sure what it was before but definitely more than that). I used NGK Iridium plugs and was told to gap them at .060" Anybody else think that's kinda high? COuld that be causing the decreased gas mileage? The car is running fine. Idles better with the new plugs and no misfires.
