Default Replacing Automatic Transmission

Soooooo... My 2004 Mazda 6 is in need of a new tranny... I have 192,000 miles on it and i'm trying to weigh the pros and cons. The car has been a great car and all i've done on it in all those miles is routeen maintaince. Has anyone dealt with this????? What are your options???? Any info is helpful! I'm really torn, but i love my car an by looking at you would never know i had that many miles on it....

Well, I see it like this; if I get at least 200,000 miles out of a car then I feel that I got good service out it. At 192k, I'd probably just move on. Personally, I would use the money towards purchasing a pre-owned 6 instead of putting in a tranny.

Edited to add:

I faced a similar decison when my '97 Protege' died. It had been a great car, and served me well for 10 years but the time had come to move on....I'm glad I did.

+1 that's going to end up being a very expensive procedure. Close to 200k is a pretty good haul for a car, time to move on to something with fewer miles.
