Default Power Issue 05 3.0 - Please Help!

I have a 2005 Mazda 6s 3.0. Drove the car to the store and when I came out, it wouldn't start. It had power so I checked the starter an gave it a tap and it fired up to get me home. I bought a new starter and put it in. I also changed all of the spark plugs because I was getting a misfire. Finally got everything back together and now the car wont start at all. When I open the door, I can see the Open Door light on the dash, but as soon as I turn the key, everything goes dead. None of the accessories are coming on and no dash lights at all except for the Open Door Light and the Immobilizer light. They both go black as soon as I press the brake or put the key in and turn it. I have no Idea what is happening. I checked the battery, Fuses, and made sure power was getting to the new starter. I'm thinking that I may have hit a ground wire somewhere when changing the plugs or the starter. Would a ground wire cause this issue? Would the ignition switch be bad? Please help, I don't want to take this to the dealer.

Update: I connected a jumper cable from the negative battery post to a ground on the car and all the power is back on. So I do have a bad ground somewhere. The car still didn't crank but I got a tapping sound. I think it's from the starter. I will investigate further.
