Default Noob CIA question

Hi I have a 2010 Mazda 6i sport. Im not to car savy and I was wanting to know if it's worth it to add a cold air intake or is it smarter to just change to filter to a high air flow filter? Any insights would be great! Thanks in advanced

A drop in filter is far superior and trouble free.

Just looked at K&N CAI here for a 2.5L: 69-6028TTK - K&N Intake Kits, Performance Intake Kit
Looks like intake is a short run, so tubing benefits r minimal. There is a heat shield that helps get at cold air but it only increases Horsepower by 5.5 which is not much, but it is more. The colder air requires more fuel, hence slightly more power.
Could you get more HP out of a better drop-in filter? Who knows, this is hard to prove, but a good flowing filter will not clog up as easy giving better air flow on a partially clogged filter.
