Mods/turbo question for 6s
Hey all...i'm new to the forums and was just looking around for some info about a 6s turbo kit. Are there any pre-made kits available on the market atm or is a custom turbo kit the only option? Also, aside from CAI and exhaust, what would be good to add to the car to produce some more hp/torque?
as far as turbo kits go, the only legit one that is pre-made for the mazda6 is the (Hiboost Turbo Kit). If you are adding an exhaust, make sure it is around 2.25in to 2.50in to allow for premium backpressure relief, but remember that too big of an exhaust is going to take too much backpressure away. But when you are adding a turbo, you are allowed to go bigger... but as of how much bigger I am not exactly sure as I've never goofed around with that.
If you want more noticeable power to lay down on the track/daily driving... You will have to invest in some good headers such as (Custom Performance Engineering) headers but you will also need to invest in their new y-pipe as well as extensive wiring and high-flow cats. This is really going to run you some money, but this company is 100% dedicated to our mazda6es so they are very good and know alot about our vehicles. These are all products for our mazda6 sport models. Also, you may want to invest in some new engine mounts from CP-E as well as it helps hold the engine down for much better response for the pedal. Only thing i've ever heard for a complaint is that your car tends to vibrate a little as the engine is held down more, but hey... what's a little sacrifice for a little more performance?

ya know, i'm not exactly sure if it fits both models... the picture does show a 2.3 engine, but maybe it is universal for the cars in some way... though i highly doubt that! maybe drop them an email or something?
no chips or computers are made for our vehicles... you could do a full ECU swap, but that's going to run you alot of money (sometimes up to $1500+ )... our computers in our 6es are very sensitive and can learn from modifying alterations such as adjusting airflow or tweaking things... as a result, no company will touch our engines with chips because they are too damn difficult to break the code that learns. no chip will work, they are all scams basically. and the ones on ebay, they will blow up your engine! don't purchase them.... they alter your vehicle so it shifts hard, eats up way to much oil, and stresses your tranny (all before your stock computer in your car can change the alterations to functionally safe ones).
Ouch! thanks for the warning...I was thinking about buying one of the 50.00 chips. Since a ECU is our only option then, what are some good websites for them? Also, since a turbo is pretty much out of the question right now, do you happen to know of any superchargers that will work with the 6s? I read that this supercharger is supposed to fit into our car with a different hood, but I dont feel like dishing out 3000 bucks to find out it wont. Thanks again for all the help!
Edit: looked further into that supercharger and found out it wont work with the 6s but I did find one from TK that works just fine with our car. The cost is 1650.00, and adds 6psi. Would I need to have anything different done to my engine to withstand that extra pressure or is the stock engine just fine?

When I looked around last year for EMS (engine management systems), I came across a new company that was called Hydra that was in the production phase of making a standalone EMS that you could just swap out your stock ecu and bolt in their new one. It came with a program that you could download and fine tune your vehicle yourself (mazda6 is what they were working on...). If i remember correctly, our mazda6 is based off the RX-8 basemap platform. The Hydra EMS ran around $1500-1800... but I don't know if it was ever actually put into production. Couldn't find any info on it with the internet... so i think that system is gone.
I believe that you could probably use AEM if you wanted to... I'm not exactly sure with compatability. Our stock ECUs are very very tricky as well because it controls so many darn things. It controls the power to the radio, the auto climate a/c, how much hair grows on your head (sarcasm), so it's going to be a tricky process for a manufacturer to make an EMS.
(*edit... just looked into AEM and it's only for Miatas and RX-7s for around $2500). As far as searching has gone, I don't believe there are any legitimate EMS for our vehicles yet. I will see if i can find anything, but as of right now... it's looking rather slim.
