Mods/turbo question for 6s
no turbo's for the 6s yet, only custom setups. there is a guy on 6club selling a custom kit right now, very clean, but as said, no tuning available. there is a company called Microtech that has a full standalone working on the 2.3 and we are waiting for word on the V6 since they now have all the info they need. local guy has a turbo kit from STS, and is awaiting Steve over at NSN motorsports to finish the Microtech tuning....then the install begins.
....and don't get a mod chip off ebay!

you can most likely hit up steve over at NSN about it. he might have one going already? i talked to him for a while to get one setup for the 2.3 as he installed it on a rental 3, dyno'd and removed...showing how easy the install was. then i put my roommate in charge of the V6 stuff as he owns that one, and got all the last info to him on Sunday. So if you want one, email or call steve and he'll set you up. i don't know the final cost on it, but i think the 2.3 unit was going for 1400. just info if anyone wanted it, no real updates.

Ok, i have been talking with Thomas Knight and he was telling me that the 350c/550c/750c will all fit the mazda6s...main difference is the length of boost and the ability to upgrade. 350c:10-15sec of boost w/o draining batteries dry, and it scales up by about 5-10 sec for each model it seems. The 350c is also less efficient. In total, you could feasibly get a 350c blower/batteries/install equip for $2000-2200...and the 550c would cost between 2200-2500 (didn't really get into much about the 750c model). Here is where my dilemma comes into play: What would yall do in this situation? As of now i am just going to be crusing up and down the strip and a few 1/4 runs so i dont need but about 15sec of boost, but I would probably want to upgrade in the future w/o buying a completely new set. Would yall just buy the 350c and be content w/ recharging it every 10-12 runs(pretty much once every other day in my shoes) or go for the 550c which would cost more but is more efficient and can be upgraded to put off a little more than 5-6psi when I upgrade more? Also, would just getting a 75 shot NoS kit be better? Going to be a month or so before I can come up with the cash for it all so I have a little time to think/read up on it, but so far it seems the TKT electric superchargers work well. Any help is appreciated.
Edit: meant to say that the 350c is also going on sale the last 2 weeks of this month and it will cost only $1500 ($200 rebate). That would lower the cost to about 1800-2000 in all.

I know cars and you have me terribly confused. How about a link to what you are referring to. Batteries????? Please help me understand.
A supercharger is driven off of the motor (doesn't use a battery), and ALWAYS produces boost....not for a matter of time, it doesn't need to be "recharged" It is driven to a specific boost level (just for giggles, let's say 8 psi is desired) and stays there throughout the RPM range of the motor.
Nitrous would have to be recharged every so often (I believe a 15 lb bottle yields about 60 seconds of total ON time.) Most people only have a 10 lb bottle.

These are the electric superchargers that Thomas Knight makes...here is his website for the 350c, smallest of the 3. He doesn't have his 550c up on the web, but it works all the same.
Wow, a 15lb bottle only has about 60sec ON time? That $ could add up pretty quickly.

For management go to sctflash.com and look for the SCT pro tuning package a.k.a sct advantage. this gives you complete control over your ECU. i use it with my 300+hp escort and my 6s...............although they do not have an actual base tune file for the car you basically start off woth the factory calibrations and work from there. this kit uses either a burned 3-4position chip or a flasher. best damn program i've used in a while.
no turbo on my 6s yet but so far what i have done is advance my timing signifiacantly, adjusted spark and air/fuel ratio(a lil richer because i advanced timing so much. until i do more to the engine and the car like head work and bottom end work thats about all i'll do. and my 6s is faster than every other six i've raced. i guesstimate a 20-40hp, 30ft/lbs tq increase over stock. no dyno just a estimate.
oh and the SCT has a little file/calibration in it where u can turn off adaptive learning(which is what makes the ECU learn the changes made) so that the ecu only does what u program it to do.
and yes Thomas knight is like the only manufacturer of e-superchargers that has proven and tested results( consistant results). very expensive but it does work very efficiently contrary to belief. i know because i actually did a lot of reserch on it before i decide to custom fab a turbo kit for my escort. basically his e-supercharger consists of a turbo compressor and wheel mounted and shafted to a very high torque/high rpm electric motor activated by a push button, and ran off extra battery(s) recharged by ur alternator system. and is highly recommended that u upgrade to a higher amp alternator to shorten recharge times. the theory behind it is to act like NOS! a good 15-20 sec burst of pure boost. on one charge depending on the battery u could run 10-20 quarter mie runs before a recharge is needed. the battery is ur bottle if compared to NOS
very dependable, very exspensive, if u dont want to go thru the hassle of making a full turbo kit setup, then his e-supers are the way to go. it basically takes the place of ur factory intake and a lil room in ur trunk for the extra batt. all in all it all will weigh bout as much as a full turbo kit once bolted up.
hope that helps!

mind posting the shop that got SCT to work with the car? i know of 3 tuners who have tried, but none have gotten the tune to work yet from SCT, would be nice to know where these guys are.
