yes i have heard of this code thing ur talking about..........but after i made the changes on my laptop and flashed the car........it felt signifcantly faster...........and i walked 3 other 6s's

i think i'd like to use a standalone EMS that way i can disconnect and easily have the vehicle set up again to be stock when i take it into the dealership if ever needed. would you be able to do that with your reflashing device? sounds like if something screws up with it and it loses your stock setup in your car, you would be screwed.
any chance you are on mazda6club? i know there would be a grip of people interested in how you did it. any chance you can send me the file. i have the software on my pc and would like to just see what was changed. my email is MrTea@socal.rr.com
i work with F2 a lot, and can get the tune onto a dyno to see how it looks.

i have some good news on that standalone EMS... here's an email i got the other day from Steve whom I have been kept informed of all their progress over the last couple of weeks.
Ross,
We've made progress on the unit and hope to have an estimated release date
soon. We are targeting the end of september for the latest... we'll see!
Thanks,

yeah, i've been helping my roommate get all the info to Steve. we're looking at getting the first system over here as soon as it's ready.
any info the the XCal stuf NY? i'd love to look at the tune. i deal witha company that has all the stuff to do it, just hasn't gotten any of the tunes to really stick or show on the dyno. things like the gov will be gone for a day, then back...so i'm very interested as it's much easier than a standalone

for a turbo app. typically the standalone is going to be far greater in most cases. but when you consider a $1400-1500 of microtech to thw $700 or so of the SCT, it becomes a "is it worth the dif." question. Also, the fact that you can just plug in and flash with SCT is FAR greater to the typcal owner than a standalone you have to splice 20+ wires to connect/disconnect.
and concidering i have the software and a company to do it, i think the tune would be very beneficial if he can get it to me.

ok...........sorry i took so long to get back on here.....................looks like u guys will have to do standalone...............i took the six to get dyno'd to see if the stuff i changed in the ecu actually took or was it a figment of my imagination that i was faster.
comes back with stock number! WTF! 3 runs..................same numbers give or take 1-4hp, 3-7tq.............again WTF!
i think to myself how did i beat those other 6's if its still stock? only thing i could think of was major driver error! but anyway.....................
i come home and park the car.............let's check something...........so i grab my xcal..........hook it up to my laptop............and go to datalog it to see if anything has changed! sure enough.........the AFR is back to factory not the 12.7-13.0 i set it at..................WTF! spark advance values changed to............didnt advance past like 9-10degrees!
so after seeing that...........i try to read the car strategy.........nuthin! the damn thing locked me out somehow! WTF! again! the xcal just says searching......
then say not found!
so i go back to my desktop where i keep back ups of everything to re-do the file on my xcal............when i click to open the file it says "file corrupt could not open" and i didnt have it on my laptop.
so i stand corrected................SCT dont work for the 6.................sorry mrtea u were correct.
but i do have another stand alone option.........not sure if any of you have ever heard of it but its called MEGASQUIRT?
again sorry for the ill info guy/girls

in these cases i hate being right, but i've worked with so many companies, it just seems pointless right now.
the hard thing with the MEGASQUIRT is if people can't connect an Emanage to the car without special pieces, support and whatnot, how are we gonna figure out a DIY unit. given the price is great, it's just the tech support that is non existant for the mazda.

hey mr tea........u have the 2.3L right? and u put a turbo on it correct? I remember when I first brought my 6s I was inspecting it like I do all my cars....to see what it has, what it doesn't have, how much room I have to work with for special things like turbos, and etc.
an interesting thing I found was that this car came with a boost sensor on the manifold. I never really thought nothing of cause I figured if it came from thefactory it can't sense that much boost and help the engine adjust for it.
butsince we have been talking about how smart our ecu's are in these mazdas......I been thinkin that it has to be smart enough to learn how to adjust for boost if it has a sensor.
of course u'll need the regular add ons, bigger injectors, gauges to monitor stuff and wut not.
the limiting factor of how much boost u could run and how fast u could would obviously be depndant on the cars sensor cal. and ability to adjust.
just a thought.....u know.
and mrtea did u notice ur car having a boost sensor...or is it not equipped? we/I may need to find out the limits of this
here is a pic of it:
