I have a 2009 Mazda 6 with about 150k miles on it. My check engine light came on and it ran as p2009 code. However, the engine light will go out and come back on again as I drive it. I replaced the solenoid the code indicated might be faulty, but the engine light still comes on (and off again). Sometimes while driving the RPMs will skyrocket and my DSC OFF light as well as Traction Control light will come on. The indicator light that appears on the dash when it is in drive will also flicker while I’m driving. Since I replaced the solenoid, I’m thinking it’s a connection issue, maybe wheel speed sensor?

 

What repairs can fix the P2009 code?

• Repair or replace wiring harness
• Unclogging or repairing the intake manifold runner bank 1
• Fixing the poor electrical connection
• Replacement of the intake manifold runner control solenoid

Maybe you should take a look at your manifold gaskets and make sure it is sealed? Also check the wiring/plug to the solenoid and make sure one of the wires or plug pins is not corroded and giving an intermittent connection.
