My Mazda 6 (152K on it) is losing a lot of oil (more than a quart a week). I tried to look under the car and it doesn't seem to be coming from the oil pan, but the fat pipe in front of the oil pan has lots of oil on it, and it seems to be dripping, even when the car is just sitting there.
After driving, when I get out of the car, I can usually smell oil. I thought it was just after an oil change and that maybe they had spilled a bit when putting it in. But that's definitely not the case because it seems to be happening pretty much every time I use the car, even if I haven't had an oil change for a few months.
Any ideas on what the problem might be? ..... I really hate to take my car into a repair shop without any idea what it could be and just ask them to fix it.
So sorry, but I couldn't figure out how to make the photo smaller.
