oh yeah very nice growl. At about 3,000 it really starts to growl. Then at 4,000 or so it sound very very nice. Almost like you have some sort of racing exhaust system.

I didn't notice any hp gains with the K&N drop in filters (have them in my 3 and 6), but they do filter/flow much better than a paper element, so if you're planning on keeping the car a good while they are a good investment regardless.

I just like the sound also...ha ha. But I am worried, I have wanted one for a while, but I live in east bum and the road floods all the time like today and yesterday with the storm the NE just had. I am worried water would get drawn up into it and I dont think me worrying all the time is worth it...

yes. Worrying all the time would not be worth it. You could just get a Short Ram Intake. It doesn't perform as well. But it still is a improvement.

Think Id still get that mean growl you get? prob it is still sucking in all of that air...

yes you would. I had a AEM SRI and it kept giving me CEL. But it still growled just as much. So I returned the AEM intake and got the K+N Air intake instead.

I gotta look into it and see if K&N has a short air kit for the mazda...if they do Ill go with that one!
