yES THEY DO WORK -THEY ADD APPROX. 15HP TO THE WHEELS-I WOULD GO WITH THE k&N SET UP-THEY ARE NOT HARD TO INSTALL-BUT HAVE A LIC TECH DO IT .ALSO,THIS WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY ON YOUR ENGINE SO BECARE -I WOULD SEE IF THE LOCAL MAZDA DEALER CLOSE TO YOU WILL DO THE INSTALL

warning...some intakes will cause a Check Engine Light, especially common with Injen and AEM. Additionally, the K&N is not a cold air intake, it's a short ram intake

What kind of gains has anyone had with the k&n system? Will that cause check engine problem as well?

the k&n is not known to cause as many CEL problems, however, the k&n set-up is a short-ram intake, therefore the HP gains from increased flow are negated by increased engine bay temperatures.

if you were to have a mazda dealer install the intake, would that still void your warranty?

I have an AEM Intake on mine. It comes with picture perfect (literally comes with pics on most every step)...picutres and step by step instructions. If you can follow instructions you should have no problems. Also, it sounds great. It really makes the car come alive with a deep, agressive sound.
