Can you help? I have an 05 plate Uk Mazda 6 diesel ts2 with 165,000 miles on the clock. It's regularly serviced. A few days ago I was driving in a 30 mph zone and suddenly heard a grating noise that sounded like it was coming from the gearbox. I pulled over and stopped. I restarted the engine and the grating noise continued when I put the clutch pedal to the floor. I let it in and itat first continued. I stopped the engine and waited. Thinking it was probably just a can or something caught from the road I started it again and there was no noise. I then drove the car 20 miles home with no other incident.
Anyone else experienced this? I did think it could be the driveshaft.

Incidentally am still getting 50mpg (uk mpg not US) at 70 mph if anyone interested.
