I've been through about 130 pages on here, all the way back to posts from 2006 and i've found some conflicting information and information that varies by country. I'm in the uk with a uk model, i've got a 2007 diesel doing 90mph (144km/h) at 2400 revs on a flat road. I took it round to 120mph (192km/h) as the road started going up hill, got to 125mph (200km/h) at about 4300 revs, the engine was still pulling and i could feel it had more to give even uphill. But as you get to the top of the hill it turns to the left and on the other side at the bottom of the hill it goes into a 50mph average speed camera zone, so i eased off before i got there unsighted at that speed i wanted to test the car at speed not my body at impact...

So on a flat road 140 mph (224 km/h) at 5000 revs wouldn't be beyond the engine. I've pushed it into the red through gears 1 to 5 and there's no rev limiter that i've noticed and just wondering if there is a speed limiter and how it works? Does a re-map disable the speed limiter or do you just hit it sooner? How would i know if a previous owner has re-mapped it? Or disabled the speed limiter?

It just seems odd that at 4mph off of the rated/limited top speed its still got a good bit to spare... Also i'm aware that you can get the speedo re-caliberated if you change the wheel size, is it an option to negate the speed limiter through re-caliberation so the speedo says you are going slower than you are and use a sat-nav/your memory for accurate speed readings? Could you fit a digital speedo display or would that still be related to the limiter?
