Default Coolant fluid.

In my 6 and in my parents 6, the coolant fluid is right at the low mark. Is this any cause for concern?

As long as your reserve resevoir is not empty, I would not worry. Remember, fluids, like gases take up different amounts of space when they are hot or cold ... so if the weather has been cooler in your area lately, it would make sense that the coolant level would show a little lower in the tank.

It is recommended that the level be between the low mark, and the max mark when the car is parked and cool (I.E. not running). So if you're worried about it, top off the tank with a 50/50 mix of distilled water and coolant. Just make sure you use the correct coolant.

Exactly. Depends if the car is cold or hot. The hotter it is the higher the fluid level will be obviously...Depends on that. If it is cold and it is near low I wouldn't worry at all.

Don't forget too that coolant is 1/2 antifreeze and 1/2 water. What does water do, especially when hot?

Correct answer. It evaporates. At least I think I learned that in chemistry but then maybe I was snoozin'
