2019 Mazda 6 Coolant Temperature Seems Low
Hi all,
I have a 2019 Mazda 6 with the 2.0 SKYACTIV-G engine. It's done 18700 miles from new. I bought it in April of this year.
I randomly decided to switch to the temperature gauge on the cluster yesterday on my way to work as the blue 'low coolant temperature' light was on the dash for an unusually long time.
I was surprised to find that about 15 minutes into my commute the temperature had only just crept past 50C
On my travel into work this morning I tested again and observed roughly the same.
By the time I had got to work (around 20-25 minutes of driving) it was only on 75C.
This seems ridiculously low to me and I don't remember it behaving like that when I got the car.
Air temperature the last couple of days at that time of the morning has been around 12C and I have had the heaters on.
My commute is around 20-25 minutes of mostly dual carriageway driving at 60-70mph.
Every other car I've owned has been fully up to temperature at around 90C by the time I'm up to speed on the carriageway.
The coolant level is between E and F and looks clean. Everything looks clean under the oil filler cap etc so I don't think anything serious is going on.
Can anyone relate to this? Is it a Mazda quirk?
I would've thought this would affect my fuel consumption for the duration of my commute which is a bit depressing.
