2008 Mazda 6 2.3l to 2010 2.5l Engine Swap
Hello to everyone this my first post and thanks for the help in advance, so here's a little back story and my question
Does the 2010 2.5l mazda 6 engine fit( drop in ) into 08 mazda 6 and transmission (auto)? I had a mazda 6 that I repaired from a minor wreck that got left behind back in 2012 I finally acquired the title for it, had it for a few years. It was running fine under my ownership then I decided to give it to my younger brother that graduated high-school in 2018 right before I got deployed, his had it up til now but I was gone due to military duty and told something was up with the car, he got impatient let his buddies "work" on it and locked up the engine(2.3l) so now I'm looking for a new engine and seen the 2.5l 2010 engine is a little cheaper and easier to find than a 2008 2.3l, does anyone know if it would fit to the existing 2008 A/T. I've looked but I've only found searches regarding going from 4 cylinder to the V6 nothing about a 4 cylinder to a newer 4 cylinder

Yes it will fit just fine, except the intake manifold is a bit different in port size. There are adapter plates available on eBay to resolve this issue. You would find it cheaper, however, to source a low mileage Ford Fusion 2.5 motor instead, as they are more plentiful and can be had for $200-400 at times, with very low mileage. It is the same block. With any swap of this sort you need to make the new engine look just like the old one. This includes swapping oil pans, sensors, crankshaft pulley, etc. You will also need to properly time the engine.
I'm pretty sure that the 2.5 is the same block and just has a different internal displacement but you all are the experts!
Like you said I think it also came in the Ford Focus.
In stock form, of course with tuning and everything, what boost and HP are people getting turboing the stock block?
Thanks in advance if anyone sees this reply to a 3-year-old post!
