2004 mazda 6 - 3.0 sluggish at low rpm's
Hi All, new to this forum and first time mazda owner. Just aquired a 04 mazda sport wagon v6 108k miles. It was my friends fathers who passed away and it was sitting for about two years. Replaced the battery, brakes and calipers all around and oil change. It had old gas in it so a goof reason to be sluggish. I burned that gas out and Im half way through a new tank with hitest and fuel system cleaner. Its not getting better im low rpms under 2k. There is a big lag sometimes 3-4 seconds before I can get it started going. My mechanic told me it could take running through 3 tank fulls to get it rumning better because of the built up lacker from the old gas in the engine. The thing is it runs good on the highway as long as you keep on it. I hit 100 mph and it was happy. Its just when its undet 2k rpms when its really cranky. Check engine light is on for the master o2 sensor and something else emission related. Should I be concerned or just need to suck it up and it will get better or a bigger problem?
From what I've read over the past year in this form. The throttle body is junk upgrade to the 3.7 l throttle body from a CX-9 and get the adapter kit from Cordova powersports. The sluggishness is delay and issue that pisses me off severely
[I have another three months listening to 3.0 is the biggest headache I've ever had. I don't mind working on cars every now and then , but car has been sitting for the past five months now because I started having bad miss that I couldn't get rid of I would swap around coils, change the spark plugs probably four times in the past year had to get a front exhaust manifold with catalytic converter and a few other odds and ends. I probably put over $1,000 worth of parts and probably 300 hours working on the damn thing. It's a headache it's a challenge I'm going to figure it out but unless you're stubborn or dedicated don't even bother get rid of the car.
