Default Tranny fluid and filter for wife's 5?

The wife just got back from getting an oil free change and said the techs wanted to do a $250 tranny fluid change. I assume it's not rocket science but wanted a recommendation on the fluid and if there is any kind of filter.

Thanks for the input!

My automatic tranny experieance is limited to changing filter (screen), and fluid on GM and Ford. My guess is $250 is way high, I'd shop around. You can do it yourself, I have a mazda haynes manual. If something isn't what I am posting, I'll look it up, and re post.
Remove the pan, if it has a drain plug, drain it first, if not put a collection pan under it. Remove all but the back row screws, then with pan under it, loosen the remaining screws till the pan tilts, and drains. Remove it, you should see a "screen" that is removed by a couple screws, thats the filter. Replace it, note there may be an O ring or seal you need to replace also, importan, if that is so replace it/them. I'd there also may be a magnet, I'll look and see in my Haynes where it is supposed to be located. Reinstall pan with new gasket, yea you will need to clean the old one off, then reinstall fluid. I don't know if yours has synthetic or not. I'd not mix it.

Orange: did you look at the owner's manual?

BTW I get a tranny service for about $70 in my neck of the woods.
