Does Mazda5 and Ford C-max share the same gearbox?
I have a Mazda5 2013 1.6 Diesel Manual.
Gearbox is making rattling noises.
Found this sticker on the gearbox:
Found several that show identical top serial number for sale but they are for Ford C-max of the same generation.
I've texted the sellers asking if these would fit but surprise, surprise! One of them came back to me saying that they would not fit my Mazda 5 because it's not the sticker that matters but rather the serial indented on the chassis of the gearbox. Looks like his gearbox has another serial number on the chassis. Have a look at the pictures below.
The sticker says AV6R 7002 HG whereas the other code says AV6R-7F096-GE
Has anyone any experience with this?
I've called the garage to check again the Mazda gearbox to see if there is any indented serial number and they said that the sticker is the only thing there is on it.
Any ideas?!?
If anyone else ever comes across this thread looking for information on Mazda 5 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 gearbox, then AV6R 7002 HG is the Gearbox code and it's a Ford code.
The other code AV6R-7F096-GE is the code for the adaptor that fits the gearbox to the car. AV6R 7002 HG 6 speed gearbox is used in various models of cars but cars need an adapter and AV6R-7F096-GE is the code for the adaptor not the gearbox. If your car doesn't have the sticker code but you can see the adapter code then buying a gearbox with the correct adaptor might fit your car. Just make sure the gearbox has the the same number of speeds and comes from the relevant fuel type. Obviously more info should be asked from the mechanic.
