Default 2015 Mazda 5 Transmission fluid

I have 2015 Mazda 5 with 93k miles. My transmission fluid didn't look reddish- it was more brownish. I got a drain and fill by a local mechanic. The resulting fluid doesn't look red at all. I checked right after a very short ride and hoped the color wont be at least as it was before refill.
1. Did the mechanic not put fresh transmission oil during fill? OR
2. The new reddish fluid mixed with old one and turned brownish?
I dont know if the new fluid mixes with old one with just a few hundred feet ride and turn brownish entirely?

A drain and refill only takes about 3 litres. There will be another 6 ltrs or so still inside the transmission and torque convertor.

You either need to repeat the drain and refill a couple of times, or get it professionally flushed with a proper flushing machine.

Repeat at about 5,000 miles and it should start to change RED. It may take a couple of changes to clean most of the unwanted items out of the oil.
Some OEM Mazda ATF are blue so when they start to get a little dirty will appear a darker color.
There are downfalls to the dilution factor of changing the fluid pan only.

Thank you very much @grim_reaper @Callisto . One last question, when I get it drained and refill later, do we need to use the same brand fluid or any compatible one is fine?

I use Castrol so to answer your question no it does not need to be the same brand.
I believe Grim_reaper likes and recommends the MAZDA fluid.

I have had my Transmission fluid analyzed with the Mazda only and after using Castrol and there were no effects for using Castrol or mixing it with the MDZA fluid. In fact, I just did yesterday a pan fluid change only. Post #376, however if you look through the complete thread you will find I did this a few times and also the analysis reports done by Black stone oil labs.

Transmission | Blackstone Laboratories (blackstone-labs.com)Automatic transmissions ask a lot of the oil. Not only does the oil lubricate and clean internal parts, but it also functions as a hydraulic oil to operate various components. Transmission oil can be contaminated with metals, solids, and moisture, and those contaminants need to be removed before they cause problems. Conversely, a test of your transmission fluid may reveal that it’s still in great condition, and you don’t need to change it as often as you thought. There’s no easier way of knowing what’s going on in the system than oil analysis.

This is what I use in my 2018 Mazda 3

Mazda in my country has stopped providing genuine trans oil for the older transmissions.

We use Castrol transmax multivehicle.

Hi, Instead of draining through drain bolt from bottom, can we use extractor to extract/siphoon the transmission fuel from the top?
I have this extractor https://www.harborfreight.com/multi-...ump-63144.html
process is like this

No I would not recommend that unless you had already done at least a couple of drain pan and one filter replacement. And even then, it is not worth the trouble to pull 4 quarts out with the very likelihood of a mess! lol . The pan service and filter is easy to do and will show you a little of what is going on by what is left in the pan and pan magnet. Then you can do a few drain and fill through the drain plug. I would recommend to invest in a drain pan magnet.

This is IMO the best company for magnet drain plugs.
