Condensation in rear lights

Condensation in rear lights
We have a 2008 5 Sport (UK)...which we have noticed has developed condensation in one of the rear lights. Is this a common problem...the car is only a few weeks old, so we haven't spoken to the dealer about it yet.

RE: Condensation in rear lights
I assume this is the 2008 model, it appears to occur on the new light cluster, dealers state it is no problem and occurs due to breather holes in the cluster, they are not sealed apparently to help heat escape !

Either way, I think I would be complaining to the dealer, especially if I lived ina wet climate like the UK. Moisture in the lights can only cause trouble in the long run. It should not happen, imo.

Yes, it's the facelifted one with the fancy back lights...what a dodgy sounding reason from Mazda...anyway I'll be having them check it out when I next visit. I also agree, moisture should not appear here & could lead to issues later.

RE: Condensation in rear lights
The rear lights on the RX8 get condensation in them and the dealers are changing them under warranty. One problem in the long term is mould forming on the inside which would make the car look tatty. They shouldn't have any condensation on the inside and if they do they are faulty. Holes to help heat escape is rubbish. LEDs don't create any heat compared to ordinary bulbs and any heat they do create is dissipated through a metal heat sink behind the LEDs.

mazda rx8 r3
I have just collected my new r3, my second rx8 and i have had condensation in both cars these R3 lights are led so cannot be heat related more of bad seals (i think) i could try and drill a small hole in the bottom. I previously tried sealant which did not work.

re condensation
I would inform the dealer and let them decide, at least they are aware of the problem that you have, Ensure you keep the name of the person that you inform. I also have a problem with my I-POD connecting , the mazda insignia is appearing on the screen but that is it, we have tried many makes/models of i-pods with no success my main dealer is struggling with the problem at the moment, any suggestions?
