Default A click sound.

Consistently there is a click sound from the engine when it reaches about 1500 rpm, only after first starting. Won't happen anymore until the next start.

Checked with mechanic at dealer and was told it's the "starter relay" and it's normal. But I with other Mazda 5 owners if that's something normal that I was just so used to it before, or it is really something wrong with this car.

It is a little annoying with it as if it has something broken every time accelerating after starting the car.

thanks.

Cool same sound

I've heard this same sound and wondered what it was. Purchased my Mazda5 GT about 6 weeks ago and had put off checking into the issue. I'd love to hear it's truly benign and not the sound of some underlying issue. I'd be curious to hear from others.

Unhappy Does the noise sound like marbles in your Mazda5?

My new to me 2006 Mazda 5 is ticking sometimes upon start-up, making a weird noise which you can here at this link...

It goes away after a few minutes of the car running. This is not every day, I cannot figure a rhythm, it is not necessarily when it is cold outside, but still normally happens after it has sat over night. I have brought it to the dealership but they could not hear anything wrong with it, drained oil, but could not hear a problem.

Warranty is running out soon, and I really want the issue resolved.

The click sound I figured might be the thing that trigger the auto door lock in other Mazda models. I noticed the sound comes at 20km/hr, instead of what I originally thought being the rpm. The might have installed the same mechanisms as other models that have auto door lock, only that Mazda 5 does not have the feature, so it is clicking for nothing, really.

I thought the click at low speed had already been confirmed somewhere else as the ABS pump? Newbiemazda - mine sounds the same after a cold start, always has done. I put it down to belts, chains and pulleys being cold.

Hope this helps,

Mozart.

It's the ABS running through a system of checks. Only happens when the car reaches 15km/h after a start.
