Default 2012 Mazda 5 Cruise Control

Hey everyone, first post!

I just recently purchased a 2012 Mazda 5 GS without cruise control and I was wondering if it was possible to have it installed?

I've done a search and have seen some people say it's possibly while others say it's not - which left me confused.

Spoke to numerous dealers and some said it would need to be programmed with the computer while others said it was not possible.

Anyone?

Yes it is possible, if you can find a dealer with the knowledge and effort to do so. For most dealers, they can't be bothered, so they say no. It isn't a simple procedure.

thanks so much for replying! I’m pretty mechanically inclined. When you say it’s not a simple procedure, is it because you need specific computer equipment to program software?

Yes, it requires MMDS, Mazda Modular Diagnostic System, Mazda's scan tool. Also it requires altering/modifying the coding for the PCM to activate the cruise control. Not a simple turn on/turn off setting.

Apart from adding a new brake light switch & wiring loom, plus the steering wheel buttons, it's basically manipulating the DNA of the individual vehicle.

Sounds like too much of a headache for it. Thanks for your help. I don’t think I’m going to spend too much more time on this.

Perhaps an aftermarket cruise system?
