Default 2012 Mazda cruise control

I am looking for part numbers for the steering wheel controls and the brake switch for the 2012 Mazda 3 I Sport. My new vehicle does not have cruise and I am told that it can be added by simply replacing these controls. Any coments or help will be appreciated. (I know it,s not simple)
Thanks in advance.

Depends on where you are located and engine, I thought I could do the same but it turns out I have a cable operated throttle so I cannot just buy the buttons and such, I have to use the ugly aftermarket stick cruise control.

Default Electronic throttle

I was told that all 2012 Mazdas were using electronic throttles. I don't know if this is true or not. Anyone know??

What country did you buy the car from, if its a US/CAN spec then yes its electronic, if its a Euro spec then there is a chance its not. For instance the 1.6L that is standard in Europe is cable operated and will not accept the steering wheel buttons.

I am located in NW Florida (USA). I was looking at a unit on Ebay and the Steering wheel looks identical to mine. I hope the computer is programed to accept the cruise control.

From what I have read on the subject its just plug and play, it should work right away when you install the buttons.

Default cruise control

OK people--I just installed the steering wheel controls for the cruise control on my Mazda 3 I sport. Very simple procedure using the instructions provided. Took about thirty minutes. Problem is it does not work.
Radio buttons on left side work great but nothing on right side of wheel works. If it is plug and play I must not have everything I need. Does the computer need reprograming to accept the switch? The Mazda parts man said I need a cruise control module. I don't know what it is or where it goes. Can anyone help? Anything will be apprerciated.

I'm picking up a new sport on Monday and will want to add cruise control as well. Did you get the steering wheel buttons working ?

nope!!! waiting for some of our knowledgeable members here to help me. I have the switches installed but I don't appear to have power on the switch for the cruise. Nothing on the dash lights up like the book indicates. May be more to it than I thought.

I've been searching for this a lot and found on another forum that someone added the switches to a 2011 but the dealer had to activate it through programming unlike in 2010 which they said was just adding the switches and it worked.
