Turn signal problem
My 2006 Mazda3 turn signal switch does not return to it's normal position after making a turn, does this mean I need to replace the whole unit or there's a chance it can be fixed?
Thank you very much.
Well, 36 views so far and no response....seems like nobody knows the answer :>(
I guess I need to go to the Dealer and find out.

One of our vehicles does the same. I asked for help at the respective forum and I was told the the parts store typically have a piece in their "help" section. It requires to take the steering wheel off. Don't let the airbag explode into your face!
A quick search brought up this thread regarding and Izuzu Rodeo. You can get an idea how things look in the steering column.Planetisuzoo.com • View topic - Replacing/Repairing Blinker/Hi-Low Dimmer Combo Switch -Pics

I can't find it right now, but somewhere kicking around the internet there's a tutorial of how to fix this. You need to remove the turn signal module. As noted above you don't need to remove the airbag.
Fully extend and lower the steering wheel
grab the rubber upper section and pull it up to release the end towards the wheel
remove two phillips head screws from the under side of the column
remove the upper plastic section of the column
You should now be able to see the wiper module.
Remove the screws holding it in
unplug the wiring harness
pull down on the lower column cover (it's still attached) enough to slide the wiper module out.
Now here's the part I can't remember perfectly. You have to open up the wiper module, and inside there's a little plastic piece which causes the stalk to return to neutral. That piece is broken and isn't holding tension like it's supposed to. The tutorial I mentioned fixed the issue by tying a piece of wire around that plastic piece to hold it together. I wish I could give you more detail but I really can't find the tutorial.

That's certainly one of the related threads, and it does have pictures, just not the end picture where he wrapped the piece with wire.
The offending broken piece is this white part I believe.

In theory that piece needs the have a wire, zip tie, etc. wrapped around it because it's separating too much. I haven't done the repair myself as mine still works fine, so I'm just going off of memory.
Once you open up the stalk module it should be pretty evident. I think what the issue is is the left side is supposed to pop back into center position, and the little arrow on it fits into a white piece on the stalk itself and centers it. Once you splint it up it should have enough tension to work again.
If all else fails you can replace the entire module. I believe it's about $80 from the dealer (check with Jason at onlinemazdaparts for the part number for you car, or e-mail him at mazdapart@gmail.com), or you may be able to find it out of a junked 3. Just make sure it's the one you want, as there are different stalks depending on if you have auto lights, fog lights, etc.
