Default 323 Left turn signal problem

I have a problem with my left turn signal, it works just fine when my lights aren't on but when they are on the left turn signal doen't want to flash its as if its in the "on" position with the lights. I had an accident on the left side of my car where the whole left side needed to be fixed and replaced. I mean It looks fine its just this one thing.

also when I look at my insterment panel, normally when you hit the left turn signal switch the little arrow flashes. Well when my lights are on it just stays on like the green arrow is allways lit up.

I am thinking it is a problem with the light not being grounded but I am not sure any help would be great.

thanks.

The first thing I would do is check the brightness of each bulb and function to see if they look the same from left to right. Next thing is remove the bulbs one at a time on the left side and turn the lights on after each bulb removed to see if a particular socket can be bad, and if the left turn indicator on the dash goes out. It is very common to see a body shop leave a loose ground wire just hanging there, and to insert an incorrect bulb in a socket. Usually when the turn indicator glows when lights are on means a ground source is missing and the system is hunting for ground.

Definitely check those turn bulbs as bkey71 suggested. A single filament 1156 bulb in a socket designed for a dual filament 1157 bulb will create exactly the problem you are describing.

Wow thanks guys I'll check in to that.

At night the left one does seem to glow as bright as a light, I mean its brighter than the right turn signal when the lights are on.

Yeah so I am going to do what you suggested.

wow, thanks again guys big help.

Sounds like you possibly found the problem area then. See if the correct bulb was installed. Usually if there was a ground problem, the lights would be very dim on the circuit.

HAHA!!!!

I went out tonight to see if I could just fix that darn light. Well I took off the turn signal housing and disconeccted the the bulb witht the conecctor. Then I turned the lights on (on my dash the left turn signal indicator didn't go on so I was very excited) So I put the connector back on with out the bulb, and every thing looked fine. So I figured cool its just the bulb after all so I go to put it back in and I forgot how it went in so I just guessed and went to make sure it worked like it did befor I messed with it.

And to my amazesment It was fixed@!!! I mean now my left turnsignal works when I have my lights on now.

I am so happy. That has been in the back of my mind for some time.
