When does the TPMS reset itself? Temps dropped last night and it went off this morning. I thought it would go off on the way to work after some heat built up. After parking at work I turned it back on twice and the light is still on. - thanks

 

You might want to check the pressure in your tires; my bet is that you'll find one that is both low and has a puncture.

 

Mine does that in cold weather also. Most the time I have to put air in them to compensate for the difference. It normally goes away after a couple miles.

1 of your tires is right at the line, with the drop in temp it lets it below what kicks the TPMS in, even with the tires warming up driving. Temp goes up outside and the pressure goes up, I think like others you have a low tire still.

 

It got below freezing again last night and it turned on again this morning. It went off on the way home. I checked them after I got home and all 4 had 29 so I bumped them up to 34.

 

On my 2007 I had issues with it during cold weather, it would come on and go off after a few miles. I did have one tire that was about 2lb. lower than the rest. Maybe it is more sensitive in cold weather. According to the manual, it is a self-resetting system and will reset "after a few miles". There is no manual reset process like there is in some other cars.

 

I posted in another thread but maybe I can get help here. We purchased an 08 Tribute this week. Yesterday the TP warning light came on so I checked the pressure in all 4 tires. The recommended inflation is 32 psi. 3 tires were at 42 psi and one was low at 29 psi. Last night after we got home I checked the pressure again and the 3 were still at 42 psi but the othere one had slid down to 26 psi. I think there may be a slow leak. I adjusted the pressure in all tires to the recommended amount, drove the car above the owners manual recommended speed and for about 10 minutes. The light was still on. The more I read the more I'm getting the idea that you have to over-inflate these tires to satisfy the sensors, is this correct? My daughter is at work with the car right now so I won't be able to check the one tire until she returns. If anyone can enlighten me on this subject it is much appreciated. TPMS is new to me. I've never had a car with it but the glowing light is annoying me since I know the tires are at the correct pressure. I'm even wondering if the dealer over-inflated them intentionally to coever up the problem. Cold is not an issue - I am in Austin, TX - 100+ degree weather these days. Winters rarely get into the teens although this past winter was unusual - wind chills below 0!! Thanks for any help in advance.

 

Tribute tpms sensors are the band type. they go bad. the Mazda dealership can pull the code for a bad wheel sensor.
On Aubrey's 3 if she doesnt have a nail, the valve stem/wheel sensor could be leaking. Ive seen aftermarket wheel not seal with the valve stem. But its way cold there, Its likely that
