Default Tire wear

My 2 year old Mazda 3 has gone through 5 sets of tires. The latest set is wearing out from the inside out. Alignment was done today (with one 5 month old tire replaced). I checked for tsb's and recalls, but there are none...I no longer buy the $200 high performance tire but the $134 everyday tire instead. Is that the issue or is there something else wrong?

1. How many miles are you getting out of a set of tires? Most tires have a mileage warranty, if they wear out faster than the warranty, with normal driving, you should be able to make a claim.

2. Do you drive nascar style?

3. Anything really unusual about where you drive?

What kind of wear patterns are you seeing on the tires?

FYI...High performance tires do wear faster.

If you want something that lasts a decent length of time, look for something with a wear rating of 300 or higher. I got 42,000 miles out of my last set of Toyo Proxes FZ4 (wear rating 300)

I am having a similar problem. 56K miles and I am putting my 3rd set of tires on the car. Uneven wear on the last set on inside tread. Alignment check says car is in alignment. I plan to call the dealer after finding some info here first. I have the 205 50 17s. The goodyears were okay, the Kumho exsta was better but short lived. Now I am trying the Falken 452.

Does this car require rear alignment?

Just noticed the dates on this thread- oops.

That's OK Todd.
Your shop issaying the alignment is"in-spec." I personally find that much neg camber to be a little excessive and cause irregular rear wear. If your car is lowered, that will add to that. I would ask them to pull out as much neg camber as they can.Regular rotations front to rear will help.

Looks like your still in your Warranty period. You may want to take it to the dealer to find out whats going on. I have a11 monthold MS3 with 6,600 miles on it with no tire issues.
