Default Theft Deterrent System

Hello. I'm seriously considering a Mazda 3 Grand Touring I looked at today. One question I had is - what exactly is the "Theft Deterrent Security System"? I asked the dealer about it and they said that it was the VIN etched in the glass. I thought it would be something more than this. Does anyone know?

Thanks!

They have a special code etched into every window which they can use to match it to you. It's unique to each car, just like a VIN, only it's difficult to see, and they'd have to replace all the glass to make it completely go away.

And they have the fuel-cut off system in all models. I don't know if the GT has any additional factory alarms/security systems, although some of the more seasoned Mazda drivers may have more information for you.

If someone hits your car or breaks the window, the alarm will sound. When you hit the panic button, that's what the alarm sounds like. The theft deterrent system only comes on the GT.
