What is the engine immobilzer anti theft system?

Default What is the engine immobilzer anti theft system?
Have I made a mistake here. Picking up my 2008 CX-9 tomorrow and thought it came standard with alarm. Whatis the immobilizer device? If someone tried to break in no alarm would go off? Can someone please explain to me.
