Stupid Dipstick
I've never had a dipstick make me feel stupid before, but the one on the Speed3 does. If the car has not been sitting for quite a while (maybe hours??) you can't get a reliable oil level reading. If you re-insert the stick after wiping itand pull it again (like people have been doing at the gas station for a hundred years), it will read one or two quarts over "full" no matter how much or little is in the pan.
Is this how they all are? How long doesthe enginehave to be off to get a good reading?

I'll be checking that here ina few hours. They took care of my first oil change as well. I'm quite afraid of having them say they did it and not. I've heard the horro stories from other places and I've always done mine before. And i don't know this dealer that well. All i know is the lube from factory was gray, it really looked gray and so hpefully i see soemthing different in there today.
You must be talking about the factory oil. Mine got grey looking quickly, from break-in metals I presume, so Igot it out of there at 1000 miles. That was 6900 miles ago, and I've changed it since then too. This car seems to use a fair amount of oil, but I can't get a good reading unlessI do it first thing in the morning, which is a giant PITA.
Last car only used a synthetic quart in 7000 miles, even with over 250,000 miles on the clock.
