Then you should of bought the Ultimate Driving Machine, BMW...
I'm not saying I want a race car. I bought an economy car, and that's what it is. Not a luxury car, not a race car. Most people who are concerned with adding one or two hundred pounds of weight are concerned because they don't want to lose speed. Again, most.

btw, I also have multiple friends with BMW's. They're nice cars.

Thanks, all.

icspots: Are you aware of any easy-to-install insulation for the 3?
Try a google search for sound deadener. Dynamat is one choice, but is rather expensive. I think B-quiet, and brownbread (they might be the same thing) are also pretty good, and a little cheaper.

Dynamat is the choice of professionals. If I were to do this, that's what I would use.

Sorry, Nor_3, I'm just poking some fun. I've had several close friends with bimmers, so I've had plenty of exposure to them, including time behind the wheel. They all liked their cars a lot, as did I. The point I should have spelled out was that, to me, they had to spend an appalling amount of money keeping them on the road. And these were just run of the mill 3 Series cars, none were old. I also have lots of friends who love their Suburbans, but I would not be interested in lumbering around one of those even if you gave it to me (since I don't need one).

Regards,
VAspeed3

Heh! I know! By the way, what about going the opposite direction? Do you guys know if there's any sound insulation that can be removed from the 3 in order to reduce weight?

you can take out the back seats get carbon fiber wheels (expensive) but probley one of the biggest improvement(stopping, accelerating), also buying some aftermarket parts like suspension, exhaust and headers also reduces weight when compared to stock
