No More Amber Rear Turns
ORIGINAL: Siber Express
They are almost invisible when they are off, they show a little red but not like the ambers looked amber.
Therefor I got the look I was looking for [8D]

If you want them to really disappear when off, get LED bulbs, but you would have to ballast them. I didn't buy the $6-$7 apiece resisters though. I went to Fry"s and bought 6 ohm, 25 watt resisters for like $3 a pair and wired them in. Just keep them away from meltables & flammables. They get hot when working.

It just seems lazy to me to use red lights or make the brake lights flash etc, my 2 cents

(Begin Rant)
Part of the uphill battle that the 'Domestic US'(1) auto industry is facing is the perception of cheapness and lack of value.
Many 'imports'(1) are perceived to offer superior value, more car for the money, and for good reason.
The bean-counters squeezing feature and costs out of American cars is part of this problem.
Shaving every dime off of the price of producing a car may save money this year, but builds a customer perception of Cheaply Made. This is not the way to regain customer loyalty.
The folks who now are selling 'decontented' and 'cheapest crude plastics available' cars learned this Stupid Cheap long ago, when they managed to (for example) save the cost of 1 wire and 2 light bulbs by integrating the turn signals and brake lights.
Of course we do not want to dwell on the number of accidents caused when a cars with a burned out brake light just looked like they were signaling for a turn, not pumping their brakes during an urgent stop?
This can lead easily into my rant on US DOT Lighting Standards which made anyone who wanted the advantages of halogen headlights in the 60s and 70s (and into the 80s) have to go with illegal European imported replacement headlamps, sold for "Off Road Use Only" of course.
This leads to my rant on Daytime Running Lights, which are mandatory in Canada, but so often Unavailable even as an option in the US.(2)
Thank You for your patience.
(End Rant)
1- for Domestic and Import i am using the common understanding. Between NAFTA and Global Sourcing it is hard to tell which is which anymore. If BMWs, Toyotas etc are built in the US does it make them 'American'? When I bought a PT Cruiser (made in Mexico) from Daimler-Chrysler (Headquarters in Germany) was it really a 'Domestic' car?
2- Yes there is a dispute as to how many accidents DRLs may or may not prevent. To be honest, the only opinion that matters is my insurance company's, which thinks DRLs are Good Things and will reward me with a discount that adds up pretty quickly over the years.
