RE: need help with 04 madza 3.
Hope I can provide some assistance. I have the same year. I have a 2.3L Sport auto. I upgraded my exhaust to the Magnaflow and intake to Weapon R secret. Havent had one problem with the upgrades. BUT Since i have had the car for a year now I always had this problem of the car hesitating and almost stalling when pressing the gas hard or going from a stop to a normal acceleration. I even brought the car to the dealership to have them figure out why I get no power. They didnt provide any answers. Well Finally just a few days ago I found a post of the BIG 3 where you upgrade the factory wiring of the alternator and battery. You can find that topic here http://www.mazda3forums.com/index.php?topic=33092.0 The BIGGEST change I made to the factory wiring was to scrape the paint off the ground point. If you look at the ground from the battery and unscrew it from the frame of the car you will see that the only contact being made is a small screw! So I simply took the paint off the Mazda will get a betmake a bigger surface area for more electricity to flow. Just by doing this one simple act I got rid of mt year long problem. Im a sure that everybody that does this with there Mazda 3 will get better engine and stereo system performance. Try it! It doesnt cost a penny
Another suggestion is to change the spark plugs. I never had knocking but I thought if I change all my plugs I might get better performance. I got these http://www.boschusa.com/AutoParts/Sp...PlatinumPlus4/ BOSCH-PLATINUM+4 SPARK PLUG And they seem to add some performance over the factory plugs.

Good info Capernicus! I'm gonna check my ground and buy the better plugs,...*ahem* as soon as the wife gets home with the car. I don't have a hesitation problem, but still a good thing to check into and like you said,..doesn't cost anything.
