I have the 2008 mazda 3, with the 1.6l gasoline engine and my low oil pressure light has been turning on at idle when engine is warm. This doesn't happen when the engine is cold or upon cold startup, only when the engine is warm at idle, after some cruising time. When I press the acceleration pedal even a bit, it goes off and returns when the RPM drops to the normal ~700 RPM.
I was wondering what are the chances of the oil pump going bad over the engine? .. Is it worth investing in a new oil pump? Or there are more chances that the engine is worn out. Engine has about 250K KM on it.
