Madza 3 Hatchback trunk will not open
Hey all,
So need some input on this. Out of nowhere my trunk refuses to open. It's a 2010 Mazda 3 hatchback. When the unlock button on the key remote is pressed then the button on the truck to open it it literally does nothing no noses no attempting to open NOTHING. Anyone else have this problem? How did you get it open to replace the latch and press button......

Obvious question out of the way first, battery in FOB good? A new 3 volt battery will read 3.2 volts when new. Fob starts acting stupid as battery ages into the 2.9 volt range, then just goes to sleep at 2.8 volts.
I guessed it was since you didn't say anything about that. I've seen FOBs do any combination of work/no work when the battery gets low and not knowing how old your battery is, I would start with the obvious first. How old is it anyway?
If you do decide to replace it, most of the big box auto parts stores have a RF tester that will show a Yes/No when you push a button on the FOB. This way you have a known good battery and a known good test of the FOB.

Forgot to ask, do you only have the one FOB? Next step would be to check the FOB itself. Again, cheapest way is to head over to a store that has a RF tester and make sure all the buttons are working when pressed. Have to get the common, simple stuff checked first.
Figured out the problem it was the actual button itself on the truck. We think moisture got into where the wires connect and it think the button is being constantly pushed. So just have to get a new one. Thanks for your help
