Ok, who is right on the fuel filter location? you say in the tank & part of pump
& another guy say's on top of tank under back seat & by itself.

This car has 7800 miles & starting to not want to start after driven a while, shut off for a short time, & just doesn't want to start. I put some B12 fuel additive in for injectors. any help I thank you for.

Default Another Fuel Filter query

Hi, newby to this forum.
My daughter recently bought a gasolene 2006 5d hatchback, and I'm going through it for her to service it.
I've found a lot of good info here, thank you, but I'm confused on the fuel filter posts.
There seems to be quite a range of opinions about the fuel filter.
Here are a few pics of her car showing the fuel filter.

My drama now is finding out how to remove the hoses from this filter. The connections look like they may just push on, but I'm reluctant to force them by pulling them off.

Do any of you capable people know how to go about removing these?

TIA

That is definitely the fuel filter for a 2.0 or 2.3 Mazda 3 BK spec, 2003-2008. Remove the stone guard, remove the mounting bolt, use two picks to pry the two plastic tabs out inside each hose connector and gently remove it off the filter, repeat for 2nd hose.

G'day Grim,
OK, that sounds logical.
Now that you mention it, it now looks like the 2 plastic tabs at each end act like collets to lock the hose onto the filter.
Excellent... many thanks.

Use two picks to pry the tabs out and slide the connectors off. Beware of fuel pressure.

Default Did you manage to remove the hoses easily?

Hi

Wondering if you were able to remove the hoses? From pictures I can't make it how one can remove them.

I have a Mazda 2.0 saloon petrol BK with LF engine. Wondering if it also has a fuel filter. I purchased a fuel filter for it but read on many threads that mazda doesn't require a fuel filter and therefore there isn't any inline filter.

The reason I am keen on changing it is I see no history of anyone doing on this particular car. And I have starting problem when engine is cold. I suspect fuel problem. Took out the plugs and they look fine and engine cranks ok so battery is ok.

Looks like a Ford filter wrench would fit.

Yes I just changed this fuel filter and it says FO MO CO on it. The new filter is now from Mazda with Mazda logo on it and Made in China (at least in middle east). I bought it from Mazda dealer and it cost about $25. Apparently cars made for Europe, Middle East and Australia got this setup of fuel filter but for U.S cars they have in tank built in filter with fuel pump.
My car is Mazda 3 2008 1.6 petrol if that makes difference.

Australian & New Zealand N/A Mazda 3's up to 2011 ( BL Facelift ) have the filter in the RR 1/4 as in the photos above. MPS & 2011 onwards are in-tank.
