drift build Mazda hatch 2005
Hey guys I'm new to the car scene and wanted to get into drifting, my car is all STOCK and got a nice feeling for the car, I put a new radio in for my first "mod" if you will but I want to know would I should do first to the car internally me wanting it to be a drift car daily drive for now?
Hi Aidan!
It's cool to drift, but everything you can do with a front wheel drive hatchback is handbrake and turn...NO DRIFTING (you can always understeer intentionally, but it is certainly not so funny)!
You can still mod something out (from a performance/cool standpoint): weight reduction (back seats, climate, spare wheel and tools, plastics from the hatch and doors + foams, roof liner, lighetr wheels, etc. ), grippier tires, remove silencers from the exhaust (leave the cats on), spray-wrap logos and mirrors, change shift-**** (manual only) and drop the lady an inch or two.
If you have a diesel engine, you can remap the ecu cheaply without installing additional parts and gain almost 30-40hp, with the 1.6 or 2.0 gasoline you'll have to spend a lot of money instead (turbo + filters + new exhaust + remap); a new, bigger set of brakes would be the first thing to do (actually, it would be wiser to buy some good tires first), but it is quite expensive.
These are mods you can do in few weeks, some are quite cheap too!
