Hello all,

Just courios... Could the speed control be activated with a handheld programmer or a shop aside from the dealership with a diagnostic computer?

Thanks in advance.

Default Good question

Don't know about that sir. It was suggested to be tried by a friend of mine and was on my hit list if dealers failed me but I never got that far down my list. Would be cool to know though. I'm not sure though if when the activate button is pressed that it simply is a electronic dip switch or if at that time it also programs the computer to "use" the cruise control.

From what the service tect told me and what I observed you need the special program furnished by Mazda. This was not a diagnostic program, more like a setup program. If you find out something different please post it.

To quote the paper work I received from the dealer after he activated my cruise sense the cruise did not come equipped on the car it was not covered under my new rides warranty. Other than that everything else is good to go!

Anyone had any more experience with this. Just installed the part with some difficulty and have yet to go to the dealer. I couldn't figure out how to disconnect the airbag so I just worked around it. No error messages for the airbag after reassembly so I hope it's ok. I will report in a few days after I visit a dealer. I ordered and received the part from the location previously mentioned but price was $199.98 plus $15.00 in shipping.

Success. I took it in to a dealer willing to work with me and their techs said no, but they followed the directions to activate the cruise control I printed out from this forum and it worked. Had a dealer seriously deny this can work and would not touch it but fortunately found a open minded customer service tech willing to try. Thanks Monte at bMazda in Orem, UT. Cruising nicely now in my 2012 Mazda3. Love it.

I know im a little late for this thread but is it required to also buy a brake switch I order to get cruise control to work on 2010 mazda3 or could I just buy the cruise control switch and then have the dealer activate it?
Thanks

Default switch

Don't know about the 2010 model but the 2012 comes with the right switch.

You have to buy the brake switch for 2010.
