I need to get into my locked 2011 Mazda 3 somehow... Here's the background:

I have a very dead battery in my 2011 Mazda 3.
It's a new battery, but ran out completely, so my alternator probably died.

Somehow, I got it jumped and was able to drive it far enough to get it to get it home (very short distance, but was constantly turning off the power steering... so yeah), and at that point I didn't have a charger, took me a week to get one.
Idea was to charge the battery up and get it to the garage.

Fast forward a week, I have a charger, but the battery is very very very dead, so dead that the key buttons won't unlock it.
Also, guess what, the physical key in the key hole in the driver side door won't unlock it either (and that's the only key hole I can find). It turns either way no problem, but that doesn't seem to be doing anything to lock or unlock the door.

Now, I *know* for a fact that I have used the physical key to open the door before (when the battery in the remote died), but I am guessing that lock/unlock is always electric, or the key lock has mechanically failed since that time.

Anyway, in the short term I just need to find a way into my car.
If I would apply 12V power somehow to some contacts reachable from under the car, that would power the locking circuit, then I could use the remote to unlock it.
If I could get the hood popped, I could connect power to the battery directly and again, use the remote to unlock it.
If I could get the trunk opened, then I could probably get the seats down and get a door open.

Either that or I need to jimmy the door, but that seems like the most difficult thing, and possibly damages my window/door.

Any ideas?

 

You can try unbolting the undertray and put jumper cables on the starter motor to power up the vehicle electrics.

 

Does the starter motor have direct access to the battery? I thought power was only applied to it on startup?

 

The starter cable goes direct to the battery. The starter solenoid is powered up by the PCM.

 

Thanks for the tip! I ended up calling AAA, apparently they jimmy the locks for free! Took 30 seconds too and no damage at all.
