Morning all, i have a Mazda 6 (2010). This morning my automatic key fob did not unlock car doors ehrn i prssed unlock button, so i tried the key in the drivers door which didnt unlock thr door either! I noticed the security light on the dasboard that ususlly flashes was not flashing too. Please can anyone advise what the problem is? The light on my key fob flashes red when i press unlock button so i think its not a key fob battery issue? I wonder if its because my car battery is flat? Ive been having a few more flat car battery issues over past 6 months.... But i do make lots of small trips..

Yes, it does sound like the battery was flat, as you say. If your using the vehicle every few days, that should be enough to keep it charged up. If the battery has been run flat a few times, and it's original, may be time for a new one.

If you continue to have battery issues, even with a new battery, something must be pulling it down. Have it checked for a parasitic or dark current draw. In 10 years, I've found only 2 factory issues with draws and both were the audio unit. All the other times it was due to a phone charger or other consumer added device.

 

if the battery is the original one then its already pretty old. i would recommend replacing it because of your long times between starting the vehicle. it will get worse in the cold.
