Default Mazda 2 knocking steering

Hi everyone.

I've tried to search same problem here in this forum but I cannot see anything.

I got widely known Mazda 2 2011 knocking/clunky steering.

Any chance to point me which part is exactly faulty/worn? Is it that electric steering engine or just shaft?

If just shaft - is it possible to replace it from just top (inside cabin) without lifting car?

Because it is hard to find replacement part in UK - how does it looks like and can I for replacement for Ford Fiesta 2011 too?

Is replacing this part looks like here (I know it might not be Mazda 2 2011)
Thank you in advance

Super common problem. Must of fixed a hundred of them.

Remove the lower column shaft. Mark the two sliding pieces, drill out the dowels/pins, pull it apart, clean it, lube it up with Magical Orange Mazda grease, reassemble. Fixed.

Same principle as the Mazda 6 fix. That video is very amateurish & concerning.

so that grease is not just temporary fix?
Is not metal worn / loose on that thread to joint two shafts together?

It started to happening to me about 20.000 miles ago - MOT guy said no loose front wheels.

Will something bad happen if I will drive like that for another 20.000 miles - because I do not care about knocking?

Thank you for helping me.

It's amazing the horrendous noises I heard from these cars, only to be fixed by lubing the steering shaft splines.

I can't see into the future, I wouldn't recommend ignoring it.
