Default Steering Knuckle Damage - Replacement Cost?

Recently slammed into a pothole (midwest + winter = pothole season). Went in to get an alignment and check for damage, and the guy said the steering knuckle in the front passengers side assembly was ever so slightly bent, but to the point where it was causing god-awful wear on the tire.

He quoted the repair at around $600, including labor, which seems reasonable, but I'm on a college budget...

So! Anyone else who's had the same issue, what were the costs of your repairs? Or has anyone attempted (and succeeded) in replacing this themselves?

Thanks!
