Default Squeak in steering when turning

When ever I turn the steering wheel there is a loud squeak coming from the left front wheel. I removed the wheel to investigate, the squeak seems to be originating from the steering box. Is there anyway to lubricate that area?

Default RE: Squeak in steering when turning

Two known sources of squeaks from the steering system. First one is easy fix. Look down to where the steering column shaft goes thru the floorboard and there will be a rubber boot around it. Lubricate the contact point between the stationary boot and steering shaft and see if noise goes away. If not, the other common source is due to the fluid. Mazda recommends flushing out the old fluid and refilling with Mercon V auto trans oiil.
